Gold Pan Racing Association
The Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the GPAA is pleased to announce a new event for the
upcoming meeting season: Gold Pan Racing. This will be a fun-filled family event with the
final event to be held at Gold Rush Days Aug. 30-31, 2008. There are multiple entry levels so
anyone can get involved. The rules of the competition are posted below to get you started,

GOLD PAN RACING ASSOCIATION (GPRA) OFFICIAL RULES

general rules
*one entry per contestant per class
*loose lead "shot" may not be used as ballast
*all entries will recieve a pre-race inspection
*judges will record racer's information and place a number on outside of pan for identification (if necessary)
*modified and open class entries will be impounded and publicly displayed post inspection to pre-race
*as necessary, races will be run in heats with advancing competitors given the opportunity to make adjustments and     
  pass reinspection between heats.

stock class
*any "factory-made" gold pan made of metal or plastic with no modifications
*any size or weight pan may be used
*ballast or weight of any type or size may be used but must be completely within and not above the top edge of the
pan and must not be fastened to the pan
*emblems, decals, and paint are allowed if they do not protrude from the outside of the pan (must be SMOOTHLY
APPLIED)
*any "factory-made" gold pan made of plastic or metal of any size or weight may be used

modified class
*the pan may be modified by removing parts of the pan
*removed or additional parts may be fastened to the remaining pan
*ballast or weight of any type or size may be used and may be fastened anywhere on or in the pan.
*maximum dimension may not exceed 36"
*emblems, decals, and paint are allowed and may protrude from the outside of the pan
*the pan must remain in contact with and not suspended out of water by additional floatation device(s)

open class
*any "factory-made" gold pan made of plastic or metal of any size or weight may be used
*the pan may be modified by removing parts of the pan
*removed or additional parts may be fastened anywhere on the pan
*maximum dimension may not exceed 36"
*the pan must remain in contact with and not suspended out of water by additional floatation device(s)
*motors, fans, blowers, and other electrical devices are allowed but must not exceed maximum allowed dimensions.
*combustion devices are prohibited
*remote control devices are allowed
*for safety, contestants are responsible for control of their open class entry at race staging and post-race

additional information
*race times, courses, lengths, formats, entry fees, and prizes will be later determined and announced.
*the main event of the GPRA series will take place during Gold Rush Days (Labor Day weekend Aug. 30-31, 2008) at
the Swank Claim near Bellville, Ohio.
*other events in the series to be announced.
